Our U.S. Graduates

Chanel T.

Environmental Safety & Health Specialist
Master’s in Industrial & Systems Engineering, Virginia Polytechnic

After meeting with a Bechtel College Recruiter and interviewing, I was hired as an Environmental Safety & Health Specialist where I provide environmental, safety, and health support services to domestic projects. I travel to projects around the United States to provide safety training and conduct job site assessments. One of the fascinating aspects of my position is the opportunity to work with people at various levels of the company. I have had the opportunity to train craft workers as well as pitch corporate initiatives to upper level management.

Dario R.

Rotating Equipment Engineer
Master's in Mechanical Engineering, Texas A&M University

I began my career with Bechtel in the Houston, TX office, working on several projects for the Oil, Gas & Chemicals business unit. I relocated to the United Arab Emirates, where I helped with customer handover of compressors at a gas development project near Abu Dhabi. As a rotating equipment engineer, I evaluate and select mechanical engineering techniques that are incorporated into the design of compressors and other turbo-machinery. What I like most about Bechtel is its size and diversity. I work with colleagues from other countries and other professional disciplines. This broad experience has enhanced my skills and given me insight into what is needed to run a large project.

Julie M.

Field Coordinator
Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering, Michigan Technological University

I chose to work for Bechtel because of its large-scale projects, opportunities to travel, and the company’s commitment to employees and customers. I was hired after an interview during a career fair at my university.
Working at Bechtel has provided me with the opportunity to work with all parts of a project—site acquisition, engineering, project controls, procurement, and contracts to ensure a successful construction site completion. The most interesting part of my job is that it is forever changing. Things don’t stay the same for long in construction. There is always something new, and that is what I love about working here.

Our UK Graduates

Khouloud E.

Graduate Engineer
Bachelor’s in Electrical and Computer Engineering, American University of Beirut

After accepting an offer to join the company in London, I began working on the closeout phase of several rail projects.

In my role, I can see how Bechtel aligns the interests of the project, customers, and employees while meeting the company’s own objectives. I’ve learned to be flexible by supporting more than one assignment at a time.
As a graduate, continuous exposure to senior managers is very important, and it’s given me the chance to develop my management and leadership skills.

Lani T.

Civil & Structural Engineer
Master’s in Civil Engineering

One of the best things about working here is that people aren’t afraid to put you on a project straightaway. It’s exciting to be part of a Bechtel effort, especially a megaproject. Part of my job is to observe the safety behavior of on-site contractors and make suggestions for safer work practices. I also developed strategies to control site access and therefore better manage short-duration and semi-permanent work sites. I like working abroad and experiencing different cultures. Adapting to the local environment and customs makes the job even more interesting. At Bechtel, the culture is very inclusive, and I’m always treated like a professional. One piece of advice I was given was 'Be careful what you ask for―you’ll get it! This really is a can-do company.'.

Joe E.

Mechanical Engineer
Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering, American University of Beirut

Soon after starting at Bechtel, I began working on several rail projects locally and abroad. I enjoy working in a multicultural environment with overachievers who have a natural tendency to push the limits. I appreciate that the company provides its people with the necessary support and opportunities to fulfill their potential and grow in the organization.
